E poi crescere                                          I have seen it growing
Trepidante e impavida                              Quivering and fierce
Tra le spire delle erbacce                          Among the coils of weeds
Che tentavano di soffocarla                       That wanted to suffocate it
L’ho vista ergersi                                       I have seen it standing
Tronco possente e rami al cielo                  Powerful trunk and skyward branches
Incurante dei rombi di tuono                      Indifferent to the rolls of thunder

Delle tempeste delle mode                         To the tempests of passing fashion
L’ho vista sfidare                                       I have seen it challenging
Il sommesso mormorio della gente              The low whispering of people
Fiorire e dare frutti                                     Blooming and bearing fruits
Che hanno sfamato gli incerti                      That have fed the hesitant ones
Ho coltivato un’idea                                   I have watered the idea
Che adesso è seme muto                            Which is now the silent seed
Nel grembo fertile                                       In the fruitful womb
Di un giovane campo di grano                     Of a young field of wheat
